Ngorongoro Crater
It covers about 8300 square kilometers, Ngorongoro conservation area is found in the north of Tanzania in the Arusha Region, located just Southeast of Serengeti National Park, extends over part of the Eastern Great valley of Eastern Africa and contains a variety of habitats and landscapes from highland plains, savanna, savanna woodland, and forests.
It is a highly visited destination in Africa and is the world’s largest inactive unbroken volcanic caldera, it also has the highest density of big game in Africa, hence a UNESCO world heritage site.
It was established in 1959 for multiple land use i.e Wildlife coexisting with semi–Nomadic Maasai pastoralists practicing traditional livestock grazing.
It has importance for biodiversity conservation due to the presence of globally threatened species, the density of wildlife annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, and other animals, also has extensive archaeological research of evidence of human evolution (early human footprint dating back 3.6 million years)
