Tanzania is a year-round safari destination, and the best time to visit depends on your interests and travel goals.
If witnessing the Great Migration is your priority, the green season (December to April) is ideal for the calving season in southern Serengeti National Park. From June onwards, the migration moves north toward the Mara River, making the northern Serengeti the best place for dramatic river crossings.
Regardless of when you travel, itineraries can be tailored to ensure you are in the best locations for optimal wildlife viewing.
Tanzania has a pleasant tropical climate influenced by altitude. Coastal areas are hot and humid, while the northern safari circuit is cooler and more comfortable.
Dry Season (June–October): Sunny, clear skies, 20°C–30°C
Wet Season (November–May): Warmer with occasional rains, lush landscapes
Early mornings and evenings can be cool, especially in highland areas like Ngorongoro Conservation Area
